When it comes to Milan, the first word that comes to mind should be “fashion capital”, and this city definitely lives up to its reputation as a synonym for fashion, avant-garde, design and modern art. With almost all of Italy and Europe’s hipster shops clustered here, it’s fair to say that the city itself is a work of art.
1.Milan Cathedral
The absolute urban centre of Milan must be the Cathedral of Milan, around which the city’s main buildings and civic facilities are built and within easy reach. It is close to the Emanuele II Promenade, a luxury destination, and La Scala, one of the world’s most famous opera houses. Milan Cathedral is the largest church in Italy and the fourth largest in the world, construction began in 1386 and took nearly six centuries to complete. The upper part of the building is in the Gothic style, the top is a total of 138 minarets, and the lower part is in the Baroque style, decorated with elaborate sculptures. And it can be visited from the top!
2.The Menade of Emmanuel II
Milan’s high-end shopping centers have a wide variety of shops, from luxury stores such as LOUIS VUITTON and PRADA to haute couture, crafts, books, restaurants, cafes and bars, and more.
3.The Last Supper
Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous large-scale fresco is painted on the walls of the Dominican courtyard of the Church of Our Lady of Grace in Milan. The mural uses a special pigment of Da Vinci’s own invention – a mixture of oil and tempera, a mixture of eggs and milk. This world famous painting was prone to moisture and peeling, so it had to be restored at regular intervals, and the colors we see today are even brighter than the original. For this reason, the church limits the number of visitors every day and must book tickets at least 1-2 months in advance, arguably the most difficult attraction in Italy to book.
4.Lake Como
The Back Garden of Milan, about an hour’s drive from Milan, is what Europeans consider the most beautiful lake. The transportation of Lake Como is very important, visitors can first come to the center of Milan, and then by car can go to Lake Como, so it is very suitable for visitors to Milan as the center, to carry out a pleasant day trip. Accommodation in the Lake Como area is more expensive, and tourists use Milan as a base to travel to and from not only convenient, but also save money!
